FreeCell is the second solitaire game I create, before that I created Klondike (or 'classic' solitaire) and I've also made a few card games like Hearts, Spades and Whist. If you have any questions, comments or requests for other solitaire games you can send them to admin@cardgames.io or tweet at me @cardgamesio. What is turn 1 Klondike solitaire? First, in case you're confused, Klondike solitaire refers to the classic version of solitaire. It is sometimes known as Patience as well. Either way, when you hear the game solitaire, in general it refers to Klondike solitaire. In each game of solitaire, there is a stockpile.

Klondike is a solitaire card game often known purely by the name of Solitaire. It is probably the most well known solo card game. It has been reported to be the most commonly played computer game in recent history, possibly ranking higher than even Tetris.

Taking a standard 52-card deck of playing cards (without Jokers), deal one upturned card on the left of your playing area, then six downturned cards (from left to right). On top of the downturned cards, deal an upturned card on the left-most downturned pile, and downturned cards on the rest until all piles have an upturned card.

The four foundations are built up by suit from Ace to King, and the tableau piles can be built down by alternate colours, and partial or complete piles can be moved if they are built down by alternate colours also. Any empty piles can be filled with a King or a pile of cards with a King at the top.

How to Play Klondike Solitaire

Freecell

Solitaire is a game of patience that, as the name suggests, is played alone!

The game's layout consists of three different parts:

  • the 'Tableau' consists of 28 cards made up of 7 piles that increase in size. Each pile has the corresponding number of cards: the 1st pile has 1 card, the 2nd has 2, the third has 3, etc... up to the pile with 7 cards. At the start of the game, only the top card is face up.
  • the 'Reserve' (otherwise known as Depot) consists of the remaining 24 cards of the game that are stacked face down.
  • the 'Foundations' consist of 4 FreeCells, usable from the beginning of the game.

The goal of Klondike Solitaire is to fill the 4 Foundations by following ascending suit sequences (ace, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, jack, queen, and king) of the same suit (clubs, spades, diamonds, or hearts).

  • in the Tableau's piles, follow descending suit sequences (king, queen, jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, ace) with alternating colors (red or black: the card suit does not matter).
  • you can only place kings on the Tableau's FreeCells.
  • you can move descending sequences of any number of cards to another pile , or move an entire pile to a new cell.
  • when useful, you can take a card from one of the 4 Foundations, and place it on the Tableau.
  • draw a card from the Reserve if there are no more possibles moves.
